Drake leads this year's nominations with 14 nods including Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Hip Hop Album of the Year, Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Hustler of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Hip Hop Video and Song of the Year.
Kanye West follows with 10 nods including Best Live Performer, Hip Hop Album of the Year, Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Producer of the Year, Hustler of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video, Best Collaboration, Song of the Year, Impact Track and Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse.
Kendrick Lamar's nine nods include Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Hip Hop Album of the Year, Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Impact Track, Video Director of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video and Best Collaboration.
Future rounds out the top four with eight nods. Baby Keem, Cardi B, and J. Cole are tied, with each earning six nods.
Other notable nominations include Doja Cat, Latto, Lil Durk and Young Thug, each of whom received three nominations.
Benny The Butcher, City Girls, Fivio Foreign, Glorilla, Jay-Z, Megan Thee Stallion, Nas and Usher received two nominations each.
Riky Rick will be honoured posthumously with the Global Visionary Award, which recognises and honours champions of culture including artists, DJs and music industry professionals who have made groundbreaking efforts to expand the culture of hip-hop on the world stage.
Riky Rick is the inaugural recipient of this award.

He was the only white person to be hanged for fighting Apartheid for placing a bomb on a "Whites Only" platform that left 23 people injured and one dead at the Johannesburg station.

This is the question that naturalist Dave Pepler examines in Groen: Kongo Reënwoud.
The series was filmed in the green heart of Africa and looks at this lush, fascinating world, not only from above but also in great detail – on foot.
In his 13-episode journey, Dave explores the Congo in the Central African Republic and asks what is so special about rain forests and the role these natural wonders play in the well-being of our planet.
Dave's five-man team spent a month in the Central African Republic to film this show in the Dzanga-Ndoki National Park.
The park is one of the last safe havens for a variety of remarkable species including forest elephants, bongos and one of the most endangered species on the planet, the pangolin.
Just getting there was a major logistical challenge: after 24 hours in flights stretching over four countries, and 19 hours in motor vehicles on some of the worst roads on the continent, the team finally reached their basecamp – exhausted and a bit fragile, but in one piece and ready for action and adventure.
Dave explores the Congo rain forest on foot and discovers its hidden wonders – from ecosystems in trees to red ants preying on termites.
The Ba'Aka people of the Congo are traditional hunter-gatherers, who not only live off the rain forest but also in harmony with it.
During his visit, Dave is welcomed in a small settlement and is then invited to go on a traditional hunt.
