Channel: BBC Earth (DStv 184)
TX Time: 19h00
Genre: Reality Competition

Celebrity Race Across the World 2

Four celebs, 24 countries, zero VIP treatment.

Four new famous faces will be embarking on an adventure of a lifetime, a journey that will be harder than ever yet equally rewarding.

They'll be leaving behind their luxurious lifestyles for an epic 12,500km race from the Amazon rainforest all the way to the Andes at ground level.

They say goodbye to lavish transport, smartphones and bank cards, armed with just a map and a limited budget to help them reach the finish line.

Tested to the extremes, they'll need to rely on their ingenuity as well as the kindness of strangers.

Once again, joining the celebrities will be their nearest and dearest, providing a unique insight into people we thought we knew through the eyes of those who know them best.

The competing teams this time around are broadcaster Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy; Ted Lasso star Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen; Radio 2 host Scott Mills and his husband (then fiancé) Sam and broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son Freddy.

Queens

Channel: S3
TX Time: 18h00
Genre: Wildlife, Documentary Series

Queens

In six remote and beautiful places on our planet are queendoms run by the most powerful leaders in the animal world.

These queens are sisters, single mothers, mothers and grandmothers.

Queens tells their stories of resilience, strength, love and loss for the first time.

The final episode celebrates the women going to great lengths to document and protect our animal queens.

Female filmmakers and animals reign in this National Geographic global series about matriarchal societies in the animal world.

The team behind the series was led by women.

Savanna Queens

A baby is born into the ultimate animal sisterhood; a family of elephants. She will need all their experience and protection if she is to survive.

African Queens

In the towering walls of Tanzania's Ngorongoro crater, the sisters of a lion pride clash with a hyena clan ruled by an all-powerful queen.

Tiny Jungle Queens

Under the rainforest canopy two tiny insect queens build their empires. One through great sacrifice, the other betrayal.

Rainforest Queens

In the Congo Forest, a young bonobo must leave behind everything she knows to find her place in a world where friendship means survival.

Coastal Queens

An orca family's success relies on the experience of their 60-year-old matriarch; while a first-time bear mother must raise her three cubs alone.

Mountain Queens

A gelada monkey and an Ethiopian wolf fight for their families and their legacy in a world of ancient Ethiopian mountain peaks.

Snake Season 2

Channel: eExtra (Openview 105 / StarSat 489 / DStv 195)
TX Time: 18h30
Genre: Wildlife, Docu-Reality

Snake Season 2

KwaZulu-Natal snake expert Nick Evans and his brave cameraman Tyrone Marcus return for a second season.

The second season revs up the excitement as Evans outwits some of the country's most venomous and deadly snakes, with added action as Marcus enters the fray, bringing his behind-the-scenes footage of the rescues to life.

Evans, with his inimitable calm demeanour, dry wit and enthusiasm, takes you through some jaw-dropping snake rescues, all packed with loads of nervous hilarity.

Season 2 is packed with many tense moments as well as challenging rescues that include climbing a tree, walking on an about-to-collapse asbestos roof, deconstructing a tiled roof whilst in the middle of a double mamba capture, or searching for an African Python in driving rain in tall grass and thick mud.

There's also a surprise marriage proposal for Evans, whose skills at rescuing black mambas in Chatsworth impressed an onlooker, a proliferation of gravid (pregnant) snakes, and a number of baby snakes born on camera.
