TV BIZ Season 2 of uBettina Wethu launched quietly on VIU's premium service recently, with new faces in starring roles, suggesting there's been a lot of hoohah behind the scenes. Rhythm City actress Kamogelo Molatlhoe replaces Farieda Metsileng as Betty and Lunga Shabalala replaces Zweli Dube as Dingaan. The season's supposed to start on SABC1 soon but things have gone silent - neither the producers nor SABC are responding to queries about it.

SHOW NEWS New drama series Isifiso premieres on 1Magic on Saturday 2 July at 20h30 and on Mzansi Magic on 4 July at 20h00. Starring cast includes Nelisa Mchunu, Melusi Yeni, Ntando Mncube and Zinhle Mabena. Nelisa headlines as Bazothini, a woman who lives under the shadow of her sister and could turn murderous from jealousy. Ouch!

LOL! The Comedy Central Roast returns to Mzansi after a four year break. In the oven this time: Khanyi Mbau, the first South African woman to be roasted in the wake of Steve Hofmeyr, Kenny Kunene, Somizi and AKA who were all given too much attention by being roasted in the first four. Khanyi's will be filmed in July and will air on Comedy Central and Showmax in August.

CHANNEL NEWS eExtra, eMovies, eToonz and eMovies Extra are officially off DStv following a two month battle between eMedia and MultiChoice. The channels went dark on Tuesday night 31 May after the Competition Tribunal ruled against eMedia's case that argued they should remain on DStv after their contract expired on 31 March. They're still on Openview.

RIP Acting veteran and former Isidingo and Rhythm City star Jamie Bartlett has died. A close family member confirmed his death on Monday 23 May, but not the cause. He was 55. RIP David Genaro and Mike O'Reilly. Update on 25 May: Jamie's girlfriend Rosa Onious has released the autopsy results which say Jamie died of cardiac arrest.

According to the SABC's Gugu Ntuli, "Mr. Mogale is being afforded an opportunity to resolve the issues raised in the recent broadcast." RIP kykNET personality and event and wedding specialist Aleit Swanepoel died in his sleep on Sunday 15 May. The news was announced by his event company The Aleit Group and no cause of death was given. He was in his 40s.

CASTING Taraji P. Henson to host BET Awards again this year, on Sunday 26 June. This comes in the wake of a development deal between Taraji's TPH Entertainment and BET in September 2021. They've teamed up to produce content for in house buyers including Paramount+, Showtime, CBS, Nickelodeon, BET+, and BET. All are owned by Paramount.
