Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) is an American subscription streaming service available in South Africa which offers a selection of original production film and television series called Apple Originals.

ABOUT

Launching globally (including in South Africa) on 1 November, 2019, Apple TV is available on the Apple TV app in over 100 countries and regions.

Apple TV offers premium drama and comedy series, feature films, documentaries and kids and family entertainment.

After its launch on 1 November, 2019, Apple TV became the first all-original streaming service to launch around the world.

It can be accessed in a variety of different ways including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, VIZIO, TCL and others, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles, and attv.apple.com.

Original television series at launch included the sci-fi drama For All Mankind and the drama series The Morning Show, as well as the comedy Dickinson and the variety show Oprah's Book Club.

Subsequent programming included the psychological horror series Servant, the romance horror Lisey's Story, the science fiction shows Foundation and Invasion, the psychological drama The Shrink Next Door and the thrillers Suspicion, Severance, Slow Horses and Shining Girls.

The first season of the sports comedy series Ted Lasso received nominations for 20 Primetime Emmy Awards, becoming the most nominated freshman comedy in Emmy Award history. The series also won the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Originally called Apple TV+, the service changed name to Apple TV in October 2025.
