ABOUT
kykNET & kie is targeted at Afrikaans-speakers, be it their home language or even their second language, as a television channel with local flavour. kykNET is produced by M-Net and it broadcasts only in Afrikaans.
It was introduced as part of the new "Family" bouquet on DStv in April 2013 and features a mix of (mostly) series reruns from other channels (kykNET, SABC2, etc.) alongside some original programming.
The channel began with its own talk show, Kollig, as well as shows that had previously aired on kykNET like Toks en Tjops, BVP, Dagbreek, Enuus, Villa Rosa and Binneland.
Other shows included Agter Elke Man, kykNET's first ever drama series Song vir Katryn and the retro sitcom Alie Barber, starring a young Emo Adams and his brother Luqmaan.
Programming includes everything from talk shows to variety and music programmes, dramas, reality competition series and cooking shows.
In 2015 the channel launched a presenter search (Aanbeider Soektog 2015) to find two new continuity presenters.
In October 2016 the channel was upgraded from SD to HDTV (720p).
