Legends of the Pharaohs
HISTORY (DStv 186)
Legends of the Pharaohs is a docu-drama series that brings to life extraordinary true stories from the age of the Pharaohs.
Based on the most recent research, with dramatic location filming, the series captures the energy and immediacy of a living world, the drama of real lives, and the splendour of the most fascinating civilisation in the ancient world.
The series will bring back to life Egypt's great pyramid builders and trace one century of epic construction, from the first true pyramid built by Djoser until the third and last Pyramid of Giza.
Today, for the first time, thanks to the most up-to-date research, it is possible to shine a new light on personal stories of individuals who took part in the construction of the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx of Giza.
This is the gripping tale of how the ancient Pharaohs' quest to enter the afterlife affected the lives of tens of thousands of people, changed the face of the planet and helped create the world's first nation.
The vast majority of documentaries about the Pyramids of Giza focus upon the technical feats of the construction.
However, they neglect what is the greatest achievement that has been unrivalled since: beyond building extraordinary monuments, the construction of the Pyramids was a project so huge that it shaped the first nation in human history, 4,500 years ago.
For almost a century, it brought together thousands of men and women and millions of tons of materials coming from across Egypt and even colonised lands like Nubia or Sinai.
In the series premiere, "Egypt's First Pyramid": The legend of the world's first pyramid involves a powerful pharaoh and a righthand man whose innovative idea to immortalise him would change the course of history.
Discover the story of Djoser, who achieved god-like status after leading his country of one-million citizens through a seven-year period of drought and famine.
Then see how his adviser, Imhotep, set out to build a tomb worthy of his legacy - a construction project that would call for the mobilisation of the entire country and influence the very fate of Egypt.

nd throughout the season, disturbing unmarked videotapes kept appearing on the characters' doorsteps, ensuring that there would be one more mystery to solve.
Season 5 begins with the gang's final days as students at Riverdale High.
From an epic Senior Prom to a bittersweet Graduation, there are a lot of emotional moments and goodbyes yet to come - with some couples breaking up, as everyone goes their separate ways to college - or elsewhere.

And life - and romance - will only be more complicated now that they're in their twenties...

The Burn with Jeff Ross 2
Comedy Central (DStv 122)
America's Roastmaster General, Jeff Ross, roasts the world in this half-hour series.
Ross is joined by fellow comics and celebrity pals as he verbally incinerates all the things we loathe and love.
Absolutely no one is safe.
The weekly series picks up where the Roasts leave off: Ross and a panel of guest comedians skewer the week's pop culture topics in-studio, and hit the streets on the "Roaster Coaster" to take aim at "Public Enemies" like drunks, hipsters and zombie lovers.
Other segments include "Friendly Fire," in which Ross knocks on celebrity front doors, camera in tow; and "Too Soon," featuring commentary on the (extremely) recently departed.
In the Season 2 premiere: Jeff and guest panelists Lisa Lampanelli, Anthony Jeselnik and Bobby Lee roast this week's topics, including new year's resolutions.
Also, Jeff takes a trip to the Westboro Baptist Church.
