Rock the Block 2

HGTV's fiercest home renovation duos will faceoff when the competition series Rock the Block returns.

Host Ty Pennington will referee the action as the experts battle to maximize the value of identical suburban properties with $225,000 and only six weeks to complete their projects.

In the end, just one pair will score bragging rights and a street named in their honour.

In addition to a rotating panel of guest judges, the new season's star roster of dueling duos includes legendary home renovator and contractor Mike Holmes (Holmes On Homes) paired with Chicago's fearless home reno and design expert Alison Victoria (Windy City Rehab).

There are also designing dads Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent (Nate and Jeremiah: Save My House); and two HGTV Design Star winners, David Bromstad (My Lottery Dream Home) and Tiffany Brooks ($50K Three Ways), who join forces.

Then there's the couple who can build and design an entire home in 100 days - Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt (100 Day Dream Home.)

In the Season 2 premiere, "Rock the Kitchens": House-flipping phenom Tarek El Moussa and his real estate agent fiancée, Heather Rae Young, will decide which competitors created the ideal kitchen for a potential buyer.

Throughout the series, more HGTV stars will assess the spaces in each home, including real estate broker extraordinaire Page Turner, who will judge the living room and foyer transformations.

Powerhouse real estate broker Egypt Sherrod and her husband, contractor Mike Jackson, will deliberate the main bedroom suites.

Designer and restoration specialist Tamara Day will judge the basement renovations, and two fresh faces, interior designer Carmine Sabatella and landscape designer Mike Pyle, stars of the HGTV series Inside Out, will evaluate the outdoor spaces.

Finally, Ken and Anita Corsini will join incumbent Rock the Block champion, Jasmine Roth, for a final home walk-through before announcing the winning team.

Inside the Factory 6

With exclusive access to some of the world's biggest and busiest factories – some opening their doors to TV cameras for the very first time – this behind-the-scenes documentary series reveals the secrets of consumer goods.

MasterChef's Gregg Wallace discovers the astonishing machinery and processes that allow these supersized factories to produce the food and goods we buy.

Gregg is back with co-host Cherry Healy to takes his love of food back to the source – the factories that feed us – to find out how some of our favourite foods get made in.

In each episode, Gregg goes behind-the-scenes at some of the largest factories in Europe, while Cherry investigates the science and innovation behind each product.

Also, historian Ruth Goodman reveals how it was invented and popularised.

In the Season 6 premiere, "Cider": Gregg visits the biggest cider factory in the world, which produces more than 350-million litres each year.

The scale of production blows his mind as at each turn he's confronted with huge machinery and incredible processes.

He visits Birchley Farm in Herefordshire, at the heart of cider country, before heading to the mill at Ledbury to help sort the apples.

At the factory itself, he learns about the fermentation process and the critical role of yeast, before being shown the vast scale of the bottling process, which sees 833 bottles cleaned and filled every minute.

Meanwhile, Cherry explores how the factory is creating new orchards of a sweet apple variety called Scrumptious through the ancient technique of grafting, as well as revealing how a by-product from the brewing industry, CO2, is vital in the manufacture of fire extinguishers.

Ruth traces a Victorian apple-breeding boom with Dr Annie Gray, recreating one of Queen Victoria's favourite baked apple desserts.

And she learns how it was British scientists and cider makers - not French champagne makers - who were the first to put fizz in a bottle.

Hyper Evolution: Rise of the Robots

Channel: Da Vinci (DStv 318)
TX Time: 20h30
Genre: Documentary Series, Technology

Hyper Evolution: Rise of the Robots

Professor Danielle George MBE, an electronics engineer from Manchester University and a robot supporter, and Dr Ben Garrod, an evolutionary biologist from Anglia Ruskin University and robo-sceptic, uncover whether the rise of the robots will enhance the progress of humanity or ultimately threaten the survival of the human race.

With extraordinary access to the world's leading robot-makers, they meet the trailblazing machines who pioneered key evolutionary leaps for robot-kind, and their most advanced descendants - to uncover just how far we've really come.

Ben is unashamedly unnerved by the tremendous rate that robots are evolving, whilst Danielle is welcoming them with open arms.

To make sense of Ben's fears and Danielle's optimism, they set out to investigate the evolution of robots - treating them as if they are an emerging 'species'.

Ben meets one of the most humanlike robots in the world - the disarmingly charming Erica - who might be warm to the touch, but whose sense of humour falls decidedly flat.

Their encounter seems weird enough until he meets her creator, who has made a robot twin of himself, and even has cosmetic enhancements to ensure they continue to look the same.

He also finds out why it's so difficult for robots to walk like us.

The first episode uncovers the roots with our obsession with robots in human form, with a visit to the fearsome Eric - the UK's first robot - to unpack the deep distrust of robots inherent in western culture.

Danielle meets an early pioneer of robotic movement, who led the way for robots to take over the workplace, and ends up in a sea of robot arms, working in beautiful robotic harmony at a car plant.

She also meets the latest breed of robots at Boston Dynamics, who combine biology with technology.

Videos of their extraordinary robots - inspired by humans, animals and machines in form - have spawned millions of hits on the Internet.

The series explores questions over what happens when robots learn to think for themselves, and what that will mean for the future of humankind.
