Bio

Amalia Uys is a South African actress best known for her role as San-Mari van Graan on the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan.

On Saturday 31 May 2008, Amalia fractured her wrist when the helicopter she and two fellow 7de Laan cast members (Sekoati Tsubane and Hazel Hinda) were traveling in crashed shortly after take-off.

The actors were in Kroonstad for the first day of a 12-month promotional tour for SABC2, on a series of roadshows called Dorp 2 Dorp (Town to Town).

The helicopter they were traveling in took off but immediately encountered problems, and crashed into a bakkie that was driving in the area.

Tsubane and Hinda were released shortly after checking into hospital, but Uys had to remain overnight for observation following her wrist fracture.

Neither the pilot nor the bakkie driver were injured in the incident.

In 2014 she joined the cast of the kykNET soap opera Binnelanders, as personal assistant Margot Brink.
