Claws follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous manicurists working at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon, where there is a lot more going on than silk wraps and pedicures.
At the centre is salon owner Desna, who lives with and cares for her mentally ill twin brother, Dean.
Desna's staff includes best friend Jennifer, a tenuously sober ex-party girl raising two children from previous relationships; Quiet Ann, Desna's enigmatic driver who also provides security for the salon; Polly, a mild-mannered preppy who recently served time in prison for identity theft; and Virginia, who makes no effort to hide her boredom and impatience with her job.
Adding chaos to the Nail Artisan mix is Roller, a gangstered-out redneck who runs a barely legal pain clinic and uses Desna's nail salon to launder their obscene profits.
There's also Bryce, Jennifer's husband who is also newly sober and trying to stay legit by working as an abundance coach; and Dr. Ken Brickman, a bona fide doctor at a decidedly un-bona fide drug clinic.
Finally, there's Uncle Daddy, a dangerous Dixie Mafia crime boss who is deeply Catholic and actively bisexual.
In the series premiere, "Tirana": Desna and her girls take pride in doing nails at the Nail Artisans of Manatee County, but amidst painting hooves and dreaming of a better life, she finds herself entangled in a money laundering scheme with the Dixie Mafia.
As New Year's Eve approaches, Desna's promise of getting out and going clean is complicated when things go south with Roller, leading her and newcomer Virginia to take matters into their own hands, changing their lives forever.

Each episode culminates with an intervention in which the addicts are confronted by family, friends and a professional interventionist and given a choice to get treatment and help or face exile and isolation from those who love them most.
This season will follow the stories of addicts as they work to overcome their opioid addictions as well as one of the most dramatic recoveries in one of the largest drug hubs on the East Coast.
The team of expert interventionists will work with city officials, first responders and the families, offering a way out before it is too late.
This season, Intervention focuses on the journey of those plagued by addiction and their families who are left to pick up the pieces in what is dubbed Philadelphia's "Heroin Hub" and the surrounding communities.
Interventionists Ken Seeley, Donna Chavous, Heather Hayes, Michael Gonzalez and Jim Reidy face the biggest challenge of their careers as they attempt to help nine victims of addiction, who are in dire need of support, to get clean and gain control over their lives.
In the Season 17 premiere, "The Heroin Hub: Chapter 1": The interventionists arrive to Philadelphia's Heroin Hub and meet Nicole, a 39-year-old heroin addict and prostitute who's lived in the area for five years.
Also featured is Janine, a 22-year-old addict whose father just died from a fatal overdose weeks earlier.
