We never thought we'd betray our fandom for Only Murders in the Building but we must.
The Studio deserves to win the Emmy for Best Comedy more. And Seth Rogen's the bomb.
We've just discovered his 2023 series Platonic and it's a gigglefest too so he's suddenly everywhere, creating crazy shows that celebrate pop culture in a way that we love.
Irreverent, funny-funny, critical, insightful and never a moment to get bored.
The Studio has 23 nominations in the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, topping the charts in the comedy categories.
The White Lotus also has 23 and Severance leads with 27, followed by The Batman spin-off The Penguin with 24.
The awards are happening at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday 14 September and will be hosted by stand-up Nate Bargatze who's described as a "clean comedian". Yawn. We demand Chris Rock!!
The broadcast will be on M-Net live at 02h00 on the morning of Monday 15 September, with a repeat at 21h00.
The creative arts categories will be awarded the week before and won't be airing on TV.
Here's a wrap of the key category nominees and a selection of nominations that interest us specifically, with tallies at the end:
Please note: we've included the original American broadcaster for each series in brackets which may differ from the South African broadcaster or streamer e.g. in the case of Only Murders and The Bear, they're on Hulu and FX in the US but on Disney+ here.
