This after e.tv and advocacy groups SOS (Save our SABC) and MMA (Media Monitoring Africa) approached the court to have the switch-off delayed again. No new date has been set. For now, the situation is: NO, the department and minister can't do it. Too many South Africans will be negatively impacted if they don't have access to news, public service announcements and educational programming on TV. >>

As from 13 March subscribers on DStv Premium, Compact Plus, Compact and DStv Stream will have access to two streams per account, on any device. This applies to Showmax too, on these packages e.g. on Premium you get two DStv streams and two Showmax streams.

It's a hlaudi day with thunderstorms for former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng who has to pay back R11.5 million + interest within seven days. The High Court has ruled he has to return the "success bonus" he received from the SABC for brokering the deal with MutliChoice involving the SABC archives. It's been ruled unlawful and invalid. If he doesn't pay, the SABC pension fund has to cough up. They have to use Hlaudi's pension funds to pay.
