The original title for Mzansi Magic's novela iThonga was Bloodlines, to reflect the twin bloodline bond in it. It was changed to iThonga, referring to a deceased person who's believed to be alive in the world of the ancestors and active in the world of the living. Even though it means the show's name also starts with an "i" - like too many others before it - we like the name and its meaning.

The all girl Forty Elephants gang on Disney+ boxing drama A Thousand Blows really existed in London in the late 1800s to 1950s. The intriguing character Mary Carr was real too and their exploits were the same - shoplifting, pickpocketing and working for rich people who they stole from. Poor Hezekiah - he didn't have a clue what he was getting into when Mary pickpocketed him.

She's starred on Backstage, Is'phindiselo, iNkaba, Ring Of Lies, Zabalaza, Sibongile & The Dlaminis and Uzalo, where she played Gabisile for seven seasons. She also had a guest role as Colonel Sibongile “Bongi” Nene on Isidingo, a character who was spoken about for yearz and first appeared in 2016.

Each episode of Netflix humdinger Adolescence was filmed in one single shot, from start to finish. Producers set aside five days to film each one so they could thoroughly rehearse. They planned on filming each eps 10 times (once in the morning and another in the afternoon ) - some ended up being filmed more. They used the 16th take for the finale. You better not be the actor who forgets their line with one minute left to go! Know thy lines actor. >>

New Netflix Afrikaans movie Semi-Soeter (Semi-Sweeter) is a sequel to the 2012 film Semi-Soet. Anel Alexander and Nico Panagio reprise their roles as Jaci and JP Basson, and Anel co-writes with Sandra Vaughn who returns as Karla. Anel's late husband James Alexander is one of the executive producers. James died as a result of head and neck cancer in 2023. RIP James. >>
