Amalanga Awafani 2
Channel: SABC1
TX Time: 18h30
Genre: Telenovela, Soapie
Amalanga Awafani revolves around the life altering consequences of sudden wealth gain, through the lens of two twins who win the lottery.
After losing everything in Nquthu in Season 1, former Maskandi stars and millionaires Sabelo (Fanele Zulu) and his twin Thembi (Nsikelelo Mthiyane) have their lives unravel, forcing them to uproot and move to the unforgiving city of Joburg for Season 2.
It is in the fast-paced and chaotic Jozi that the twins seek sanity, belonging and opportunity to make it big again.
Brian Khumalo returns as Sugarbasin, and Amandla Dladla returns as Stha.
After a first season in which the chaotic twins saw their lives rise to dizzying heights of fame, money and lavish living, everything comes burning down as they find themselves stripped of everything that once defined them and back to square one, in Nquthu.
Season 2 asks a question that many young Africans quietly wrestle with: what happens if the dream doesn't work out?
In this season the twins are forced to step into a completely different world, far from the life they once knew.
They find themselves navigating a fast-moving city of Egoli - one that is louder, faster and far less forgiving.
It is a place known for dreams, ambition and reinvention.
At its heart, the new season is about second chances, because sometimes the biggest dream of all is simply getting another chance.
It is about falling, getting up again, and learning the hard way that the journey to success is often slower and far more complicated than we expected.
With new characters, new worlds and even higher emotional stakes, Season 2 promises drama, humour, heartbreak and hope all wrapped in a vibrant South African story.
The biggest question of all remains: will amaWele wodumo return to the music that started it all?
Joining the series this season are the Duma family, including:
- Ncibijana Madlala as Zaqheqhe Duma,
- Sannah Mchunu as MaJele,
- Thokozani Nzima as Sandlasenkosi Duma,
- Zazi Kunene as Ntando Duma,
- Craig Nobela as Fenda,
- Aramis Ngwenya as Sfuba,
- and Ayanda Phambana as Nobesuthu Duma.
Also joining is Sipho Mbele as Mahlangu, the nosey neighbour.
In the Season 2 premiere: The season opens with a flash-forward of Sabelo being chased in Johannesburg, before cutting back three weeks earlier.
The darkness inside the boot is absolute, broken only by the rhythmic, jarring thuds of the car hitting uneven pavement.
Sabelo's breath comes in ragged gasps, the air growing thick and stale as the vehicle swerves sharply, pinning him against the cold metal side.
Every muscle in his forearms is strained to the limit, fighting the unyielding constraints that keep him anchored in the dark.
Can he outrun the consequences of his choices, or has the path already been set?
During Gumede's ukujikijela ritual, Sabelo is overwhelmed by traumatic memories and suffers a mental breakdown.
Ntombi is also shown struggling financially without Gumede and even tries to borrow money from Stha.
