For Real: The Story of Reality TV

E! delves into the origin story of one of the most intriguing and polarising subsects of the entertainment landscape.

Hosted and executive produced by Andy Cohen, the seven-part limited series explores different themes including celebreality, dating, competition and extreme makeover series, among others.

It also shares shocking revelations from those industry executives, producers and journalists who helped catapult reality programming into the pop culture zeitgeist.

Featuring untold stories and "never-before-seen" footage, Cohen reminisces with some of the biggest stars to examine the evolution and decades-long cultural impact of unscripted television.

Cohen navigates reality's storied past as he dishes with the Kardashian/Jenner family ahead of their final season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians; and celebrates all that Black women have brought to the genre with an insightful conversation with Kandi Burruss, Vivica A. Fox and producers Holly Carter and Mona Scott-Young.

Andy also reveals secrets from The Bachelor with Jason and Molly Mesnick; and brings together cast members of the first season of The Real World for a tearful reunion after 20 years.

Additional talent interviews for the series include Bret Michaels, Caroline Manzo, Clay Aiken, Dr. Drew, Janice Dickinson, Julie Chen, Kendra Wilkinson, Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump, Luann de Lesseps, Melissa Rivers, Omarosa Newman, Dr. Paul Nassif, Rachel Zoe, Ramona Singer, Richard Hatch, Ruben Studdard, Sharon, Jack and Kelly Osbourne, Teresa Giudice, Dr. Terry Dubrow and Thom Filicia.

Day Zero

Channel: BBC Earth (DStv 184)
TX Time: 16h30
Genre: Nature, Documentary Series

Day Zero

Day Zero seeks to illuminate how humanity is rapidly consuming Earth's precious, ancient, fresh water supplies and simultaneously removing nature's ability to replenish them.

The film deliberately seeks out the voices of people who are already on the front line of this rapidly unfolding crisis – people who, unlike most of us, do not have the luxury of thinking water scarcity is someone else's business.

In Africa, Kansas, California, Brazil – and even in space - we find ourselves on a truly global journey as drought begins to threaten every corner of the Earth.

Through our character's stories we realise that water stress is in fact one of the first, tangible symptoms of our new reality: a planet that simply cannot cope with the over consumption, over population and assault on natural systems that modern life requires to sustain it.

The Night Caller

Channel: CBS Justice (DStv 170)
TX Time: 20h00
Genre: True Crime, Documentary Series, Docu-Drama

The Night Caller

From 1959 to 1963, a mysterious attacker terrorised Perth, Australia, committing random and extraordinarily violent crimes.

The Perth police were determined to find the culprit.

Deaf Darryl Bleamish was arrested, questioned without parents or lawyer, charged with murder and sentenced to death – but while he was in prison, the attacks began again.

Many more violent crimes were committed, before a second young man – John Button – was arrested, cross-examined until he confessed, and also sent to prison.

A few months later a babysitter was shot in the head. Police combed the crime scene and found a fingerprint.

They fingerprinted 30,000 men and interviewed 8,000 residents, yet despite every possible effort, there was no sign of the Night Caller – until an elderly couple, out for a stroll, spotted a rifle under a bush...

A four-part true crime docu-series, The Night Caller depicts and explores a killer's harrowing legacy – of tragedy, grief, responsibility and redemption – as seen through the eyes of filmmaker Thomas Meadmore, returning to his childhood home and spending time with those closest to the killer and his victims, whose lives he altered irrevocably.

With unprecedented access to the killer's wife and the two men wrongly convicted of his crimes, this is a series about the devastating aftermath of serial murder, and how his victims - which include his wife and those wrongly convicted of his crimes - have come together through grief and injustice in the pursuit of closure and redemption, which includes finally holding the police to account.
