In the Season 2 premiere: A community service group find themselves under suspicion when one of their members, car salesman Eddie Morris, is pushed off the tower of a ruined castle around which the group are working.
John and Janie are brought together by DCI Clarke to solve the case.
However, following the shocking revelation that John has been dating Janie's mam, Yvonne, tensions remain high between the two.
Though they haven't spoken in months, our crime-fighting duo must now remain professional if they hope to solve Eddie's murder.

The two are offered the opportunity to redeem themselves - Ellis needs to get back to his detective post and Max needs to stay out of jail.
The catch? They have to work together, each using their unique skills to solve crimes.
For Ellis, that means hard-boiled shoe leather police work; for Max, it means accents, disguises, schemes and generally befriending everyone in sight, while driving Ellis absolutely nuts.
The two will have to learn what it means to trust another person and maybe actually become partners.
In the Season 3 premiere, "Rack 'em Up": Max and Ellis hunt a pool shark's killer, while Max's mom returns from the grave with a vengeful crime lord trailing her who puts the whole family in the danger.
