Shark Attack: The Paige Winter Story
Nat Geo Wild (DStv 182 / StarSat 221)
On 2 June, 2019, North Carolina teenager Paige Winter was swimming in waist-deep water when suddenly a shark attacked – and in an instant – life would never be the same.
Following her story for more than a year, this special chronicles her unprecedented journey: from the harrowing attack and months of rehabilitation to the trials, tribulations and struggles.
The special features 12 months of unfettered access to Winter and her family who – for the first time - share their story in the hopes of inspiring others.
This is a story of triumph over adversity: from the complicated surgeries and painful therapies that followed the attack, to Winter's first steps on her new prosthetic leg, and through all the rites of passage an American teen faces in her senior year of high school, from homecoming and the prom to graduation.
All the dramatic ups and downs converge in one moment when Winter and her family return to the beach where she nearly lost her life for the first time exactly one year after the attack.
When Winter was attacked, her father heroically beat off the predator and carried his daughter to safety.
After being airlifted to a trauma centre and undergoing multiple surgeries, Winter lost two fingers, and her left leg was amputated.
Despite all Paige has lived through, this inspirational teen remains an advocate for sharks and, with the guidance of professionals, takes brave steps to overcome her greatest fears.
Nancy Drew 2
M-Net (DStv 101)
Season 2 of Nancy Drew follows the legendary teen detective as she solves mysteries - both Earthbound and supernatural - in her haunted hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine.
Nancy leads a sleuthing team of unlikely friends: George Fan, whose clairvoyant heritage will emerge through her encounters with the paranormal; Bess Marvin, a con artist and heiress with multiple lady admirers; Ned "Nick" Nickerson, Nancy's ex and George's boyfriend, a gifted mechanic with a tragic past; and philosophical slacker Ace, whose computer-hacking skills have caused secret troubles that will soon be exposed.
In Season 1, the Drew Crew helped Nancy discover the stunning truth that Lucy Sable, the ghost who'd been haunting her all season, was her biological mother, and her biological father was corrupt billionaire Ryan Hudson.
Season 2 is a direct pickup from Season 1, spanning the autumn of 2019, during Nancy's gap year before college.
Ryan will attempt to redeem himself through forging a father-daughter bond with Nancy while keeping her parentage a secret from the rest of his powerful family.
Nancy will also find a way forward with her adoptive father Carson Drew by becoming an investigator for his legal practice.
Her adventures will bring the Drew Crew standalone cases, new romances, and emotional journeys of self-reinvention as Nancy tries to navigate with both her biological parent and the man who raised her.
However, the compounding intrigue and menace of the Hudson family will ultimately force her to make a life-altering choice between her two fathers.
In the Season 2 premiere, "The Search for the Midnight Wraith": Nancy and the Drew Crew are still reeling from witnessing the visions of their deaths.
They realise even more so now that they need to come up with a plan to stop the Aglaeca before it's too late.
Meanwhile, Detective Tamura shows up at The Claw to bring Nancy in for questioning as she is now a suspect in a mysterious comatose girl's assault.
