This talent search aims to discover South Africa's cream of the crop in the Afro-fusion music scene, taking South African music to the global stage.

Forty aspiring singers selected through nationwide auditions battle it out for the title that includes a grand cash prize and an artist mentorship that will provide guidance and a recording deal to produce an album.

The second and third-prize finalists will also walk away with prizes that could help propel them in their efforts to take their music careers to the next level.

Auditions took place in Johannesburg, Lusikisiki, Emalahleni and Durban.

Radio duo Ukhozi FM's Mandla Magwaza, known by his listeners as "Njinji wami" and Metro FM's Mpumi Mlambo, aka "Msakazi", are the hosts.

Joining the team are the judges: Afro-fusion musician Sho Madjozi, rapper and songwriter Big Zulu, Maskandi musician Phuzekhemisi and composer, singer and songwriter Msaki.

The show seeks to unearth young, unknown and new talents of various South African musical genres such as Maskandi, Mbhaqanga, Isicathamiya, Afro-pop and traditional music from different regions of Mzansi.
