Die Byl is the story of Colonel Piet van der Bijl (Waldemar Schultz), a brilliant detective who specialises in catching serial killers.
His entire being is focused on life's details and the pieces of the puzzle which don't always seem to fit.
Though his personal relationships might suffer due to his obsession with his work, he would do anything for the people he holds dear.
As with previous seasons there are five double episodes, with each investigation stretching over two episodes.
In each double episode Byl and his team are on the trail of a serial killer.
However, there is an overarching storyline through the entire season: a psychopath with a wide circle of influential people caught in a stranglehold.
Returning cast for the fourth season include Waldemar Schultz as Byl, Marvin-Lee Beukes as Juan, Milan Murray as Nicki, Trudy van Rooy as Shani and Lika Berning as Lena.
This season they have to pick up the broken pieces after the death of their colleague Fritz Barnard (played by Eric Nobbs) last season.
Sean Cameron Michael returns in the role of Vermeer, the villain of this season. His character was introduced in the Season 3 finale.
Frank Rautenbach also returns as Trotskie, who was also introduced in the final episode last season.
Actors joining the cast this season include Amalia Uys, Elizabeth Archer, Gerben Kamper, Andahr Cotton and Chris van Niekerk.
Leon Kruger was once again a producer and head writer of this season. This was the last season Leon worked on, as he passed away in July 2021.

The individuals competing on Season 41 are from diverse backgrounds with the same ultimate goal: to outwit, outplay and outlast, and in the end only one will remain to claim the title of Sole Survivor.
