Law & Order: LA (originally titled Law & Order: Los Angeles) is an American police procedural television drama series created by Dick Wolf as a spin-off of the crime drama Law & Order set in Los Angeles, which follows the professional lives of several police officers and prosecutors who represent the public interest in the criminal justice system.
The series aired in the USA on NBC from 29 September, 2010 to 27 June, 2011. It was officially cancelled by NBC on 13 May, 2011. There are 22 hour-long episodes in one season.
Law & Order: LA premiered in South Africa on M-Net and DStv's M-Net HD channel on Friday 14 January 2011, at 20h30. It later aired on DStv's M-Net Series channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
The series originally aired on M-Net and M-Net HD from 14 January to 9 September, 2011, on Fridays at 20h30. It went on hiatus after eight episodes to accommodate a similar hiatus in the USA and resumed with Episode 9 on Friday 10 June 2011, at 20h30. New episodes broadcast weekly.
Law & Order: LA premiered on M-Net Series on Sunday 6 November 2011, at 22h30. New episodes broadcast weekly.
The newest addition to the Law & Order brand, Law & Order: Los Angeles fuses classic ripped-from-the-headlines storytelling with the distinctive backdrop of LA - delving into the unique attitudes, cultures and crimes of the West Coast.
The drama follows Detectives Rex Winters (Skeet Ulrich) and Tomas TJ Jarusalski (Corey Stoll) as they pursue cases through the diverse City of Angels.
As members of the Los Angeles Police Department's elite Robbery Homicide Division, Winters is a straight-shooting ex-Marine with a clear-cut worldview as stubborn as he is, while TJ, who grew up the son of an Oscar-winning Polish cinematographer, knows too well the dark underside that is behind-the-scenes Hollywood.
Deputy District Attorney Morales (Alfred Molina) is a sarcastic realist who believes moral righteousness is great in theory, but ineffective in a street fight.
Though he knows how to manipulate both his public image and the behind-the-scenes politics, he's still a killer in the courtroom who lives to see justice served.
Originally titled Law & Order: Los Angeles, the series title was shortened to Law & Order: LA when the show returned from hiatus in 2011.
Law & Order: LA is a Wolf Films production in association with Universal Media Studios. Wolf is creator and executive producer; René Balcer, Blake Masters, Christopher Misiano and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.
