Meet the Meerkats

Meerkats live in close families and rely on their companions to watch their backs.

In their vast and unforgiving home of the Namib desert, only together can they defeat the odds stacked against them.

One young female is forced from her group, overcoming a brutal attack from the alpha pair and fearing for her life.

Cast out and left to fend for herself, she has no choice but to roam the desert and find a way to live.

The Namib desert is one of the harshest habitats on the planet, and its residents have developed a range of strategies to overcome the challenges it presents.

From the smallest succulents disguising themselves as rocks to avoid hungry eyes, to the giant elephants who expertly mine the earth for underground water.

If the young female is going to survive, she must find a new pack, giving her the strength she needs to defeat the odds.

This docuseries traces the history of classic video games, featuring insights from the innovators who brought these worlds and characters to life.

High Score is a series about the golden age of video games, when legends – from Pac-Man to Doom – were brought to life.

Through ingenuity and sheer force of will, computer pioneers and visionary artists from around the globe spawned the iconic worlds of Space Invaders, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, Sonic the Hedgehog, John Madden Football and beyond.

Without rules or roadmaps, players and innovators alike pushed the limits of money to be made, rivals to be crushed, and hearts to be won.

This is the story of the brains behind the pixels and how their unmatched innovation built a multi-billion dollar industry - almost by accident.

Survivor 39: Island of the Idols

Channel: Vuzu (DStv 116)
TX Time: 21h00
Genre: Reality Competition

Survivor 39: Island of the Idols

This edition features two legendary winners, Boston Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine, who return to the game to serve as mentors to a group of 20 new castaways.

Combined, Boston Rob and Sandra have played over 200 days of Survivor and plan to share their knowledge with the new castaways, but for the first time, they won't be competing for the money.

During the 39 days, some castaways will have the opportunity to visit the Island of the Idols to learn skills and strategy from these "idols."

Each player, selected to visit the special island in various ways throughout the season, will have to decide if they should put their knowledge to the test for a chance at a possible advantage in the game, or risk losing something very important in the process.

Those who can rise up to the challenge will possibly gain an advantage and continue their individual quest for $1- million and the title of Sole Survivor.

These new castaways will be forced to compete against each other with the same ultimate goal: to outwit, outplay and outlast each other, and in the end only one will remain to claim the title of Sole Survivor.

The show films in the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji.

In the Season 39 premiere, "I Vote You Out and That's It": One castaway gets fired up when learning a lesson on the Island of the Idols, where Boston Rob and Sandra Diaz serve as mentors in an all-new twist.

Also, castaways question whether likability will prove to be a liability.

These Birds were Made for Walking

These Birds were Made for Walking

Few things are more wondrous than the gift of flight, but some birds have chosen to give it up - the question is, why?

Whether it's to save energy, tap into new food resources or invest in other skills, they all have their reasons.

But one thing's for sure: it doesn't make flightless birds any less weird and wonderful.

There are 60 species of bird that have given up the gift of flight, but they are not all related. Each have taken their own evolutionary path.

Across the world, non-fliers are a story of success, conquering diverse habitats from the great plains and deserts to rainforests, islands and even oceans.

They include the biggest, fastest, deepest diving and most dangerous on the planet.

Not bad for a group who decided to give up bird's greatest evolutionary advantage. There's a lot to be said for putting one foot in front of the other.
