Go Viral
Channel: SABC1
TX Time: 19h30
Genre: Documentary Series, Technology
What happens when the screen goes dark, the likes stop counting and the cameras are no longer rolling?
Go Viral takes you beyond the posts, trends and viral moments to uncover the real people and stories behind South Africa's digital personalities.
This is a 13-part series that profiles South Africans whose lives, careers and opportunities have been shaped by the extraordinary reach of social media.
From comedy, dance and music to education, news, culture and entertainment, the series explores how ordinary moments can become extraordinary opportunities when they connect with audiences online.
But Go Viral is about more than followers, likes and views.
It asks the questions that audiences do not always get to see on their feeds: Who were these personalities before the viral moment?
What happened when millions of people started watching?
And what does it really take to turn digital attention into something meaningful?
In a world where a single post, dance, joke, opinion or everyday moment can reach millions of people almost overnight, social media has fundamentally changed how South Africans create, communicate, build careers and connect with one another.
For some, going viral opens the door to entertainment and commercial opportunities.
For others, it becomes a platform to educate, preserve culture, tell stories or give a voice to communities that may not always find representation in traditional media.
Go Viral explores these journeys from the other side of the screen - revealing the creativity, risk, hard work, opportunity, business, culture and personal transformation behind the content.
In the series premiere, "Touchline Truth": The series opens with Touchline Truth, the Tembisa-born rapper, poet and lyricist whose conscious hip-hop, captivating freestyles and storytelling have earned him a loyal digital following.
But Touchline's digital identity extends beyond his music.
Kasi life, football, South African culture and everyday experiences all find their way into the content he creates, connecting hundreds of thousands of people to his world.
His story demonstrates how social media has transformed the relationship between artists and audiences, allowing musicians to build communities and reach fans directly without relying solely on traditional media or record companies.
Go Viral explores the man behind the music and how digital platforms have become an important part of his creative journey.

Germany's Magic Mountains
Channel: Nat Geo Wild (DStv 182 / StarSat 221)
TX Time: 18h00
Genre: Nature, Wildlife, Documentary Series
Germany's Magic Mountains is a two-part series exploring Germany's mountain landscapes, from the high Alps to the Central Uplands.
Though differing in character, these regions share a common challenge: climate change and human influence are forcing wildlife to adapt to rapidly shifting conditions.
In the Alps, we follow three species finely tuned to this extreme world: alpine ibex mastering sheer cliffs, marmots in a race against a short summer and rock ptarmigan whose seasonal camouflage is increasingly out of sync with conditions.
Beyond the Alps, the Central Uplands reveal ancient forests and rocky highlands.
Rutting red deer, peregrine falcons, returning lynx and elusive wildcats all inhabit these landscapes.
Through intimate wildlife stories, Germany's Magic Mountains reveals the fragile balance between resilience and vulnerability.
Episode 1: Surviving in the Alps
The Alps are changing. Not in dramatic leaps, but in slow, steady shifts.
Rising temperatures and decades of human activity are transforming this once-stable mountain region.
Ibex, marmot and ptarmigan each face their own challenges in the alpine world, but with changes come new opportunities – how will the different species adapt?
In the valleys, the altered flow of the river Isar threatens species like the little ringed plover, which nests on open gravel.
The film portrays a fragile world in motion.
Episode 2: Romantic Central Uplands
Germany's Central Uplands may not rival the Alps in height, but their quiet charm lies in ancient forests and wild beauty.
Through the autumn forest the booming call of a stag echoes through the mist – it's rutting season.
In Saxon Switzerland, peregrine falcons and black storks inhabit picturesque cliffs.
The elusive lynx roams the forests, while in the Harz and a new, wilder forest is growing after challenges of changes in climate and beetles devastation.
