Whale with Steve Backshall

Naturalist and conservationist Steve Backshall takes the viewer closer to the most iconic, mysterious and threatened whales and their dolphin cousins.

He free-dives in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, meeting sperm whales, humpback whales, orcas and bottlenose dolphins along the way, revealing complex social relationships, surprising hunting techniques, and more.

Confronted with the uncomfortable and urgent truths of overfishing, pollution and habitat destruction, Steve meets with other whale advocates from around the world to explain why whales are essential for the health of oceans.

Whales and Us

Steve Backshall explores the evolving understanding of whales, how much they have in common with humans, and how recent discoveries could help to better protect them from threats in an increasingly changing world.

Ocean Hunters

Steve encounters the largest and most sophisticated hunters on the planet, revealing how the ingenious strategies used by whales can sometimes get these extraordinary predators in trouble.

Ocean Voyagers

Steve journeys the globe with some of the greatest travellers on the planet as he explores the reasons that drive their epic voyages and the challenges migrating whales face.

Ocean Survivors

Steve returns home to the Atlantic waters of the British Isles as he considers the question of what humanity can do to ensure the enduring future of whales, which have already survived so much.

Channel: Mzansi Wethu (DStv 163)
TX Time: 20h30
Genre: Dating Game Show, Reality

Date My Family 11

NOTE: this season was promoted as starting in February, but never aired.

Dating game show in which singles who are looking for love are sent on dates with the families of three potential partners, and must decide who to date based solely on the impression their family gives.

Forget about the "two people meet each other" typical love story. It's now a full-on family affair.

In each episode, audiences are introduced to a bachelor/bachelorette who's looking for love.

That singleton is then sent on three dates – to meet the families of three potential partners.

The twist in the tale?

The bachelor/bachelorette must choose just one potential partner who they think they'll hit it off with – based solely on what the families say and do.

But will they make the right choice?

The three potential partners are kept out of sight, watching the action unfold onscreen, as the bachelor/bachelorette engages with their respective family.

They secretly hope that their families paint them in the best possible light and make a good first impression.

With no communication at all between the bachelor/bachelorette and the potential partners, the scene is set for an unforgettable final date.

Expect laughs and drama as Cupid gets a helping hand from brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, moms, dads, nieces, nephews, cousins and of course, grandparents.

At the end the day, the question remains: will it love at first hello - or a fast goodbye?

In the Season 11 premiere: We meet 28-year-old Thabang Mothajana from Bloemfontein.

Thabang enjoys going out and playing soccer and his ideal partner needs to be compatible with him.
