The Saturday Showdown

Hosted by SuperSport's Thato Moeng and comedian Skhumba Hlophe, The Saturday Showdown sees five teams, captained by celebrities, battle it out for a R3.5-million grand prize.

The show aims for the atmosphere and competitiveness of an arena game, and the heart and wit of a game night with friends.

The Saturday Showdown is a laugh-a-minute game show that's also a fierce battle between very competitive teams who are fighting for the life-changing prize money.

Viewers at home also have an opportunity to win R50,000 every week.

There are five teams comprising of three players, including a DStv rewards studio player, who will face off over 13 episodes.

The teams will go head-to-head in a series of games testing skills (such as shooting hoops); luck (think: big wheel spins); and puzzles and pop culture activities, like karaoke.

All this culminates in a face off in which the teams go head to head in a game that encapsulates all of the above.

Who will emerge victorious?

Legends of Chamberlain Heights

An urban animated series mixing raucous comedy and social commentary that centres on three high school freshman basketball benchwarmers: Jamal, Grover and Milk.

The three friends tackle life with some wins and some losses, but failure doesn't faze them since they're legends... even if it's just in their own minds.

Best friends Grover, Milk and Jamal are benchwarmers on their school's basketball team, but they've got superstar dreams.

To ascend from freshmen to legends, they'll need to prove themselves as champions on and off the court.

In the series premiere, "Child, Please": Grover, Milk and Jamal each have to keep a robotic baby in good health in order to keep their grades high enough to stay on the team.

In the second episode of the weekly double bill, "Jamallies": Jamal concocts his own party drug in a bid to get the guys access to Randy's party.

When Luxury Holidays Go Horribly Wrong

The holiday industry in the UK is worth a jaw-dropping 45-billion pounds a year.

And for those choosing to spend big and go five-star, only the best will do.

From swanky hotels to luxurious cruises, when these holidays go right they're perfect paradises and much needed R&R in the lap of luxury.

But when it goes horribly wrong, it can be catastrophic.

Actress Glynis Barber narrates this one hour special.

There are first-hand interviews with the real-life people whose holidays ended in disaster.

Highlights include chartered accountant Bill and his wife Tanya who shelled out a whopping £11,000 on a once-in-a-lifetime cruise to the Bahamas only to end up trapped in the eye of a cyclone.

The couple were left horrified as the ship listed at sea, with water leaking into their cabin and chaos all round.

Plus, we hear from Iain and Judie Cook whose luxury dream trip to Vegas turned into deadly nightmare.

They'd gone to the city of lights to get hitched and celebrate their honeymoon only to get caught up in the now infamous shootings that saw 58 people killed and 851 others injured.

Expert interviews include travel presenters Danni Menzies, Scarlette Douglas, Jean Johansson and journalist and broadcaster Simon Calder.

My Greek Odyssey 2

Channel: Curiosity Channel (DStv 185)
TX Time: 22h00
Genre: Travel

My Greek Odyssey 2

My Greek Odyssey takes you to some of the most spectacular and unique islands in Greece, centred around the charismatic and larger-than-life character of Peter Maneas.

His story is a rags to riches tale, having been born to Greek migrants that settled in Australia over 50 years ago with nothing but their suitcases.

From these humble beginnings, Peter has built himself a highly successful business and is now the proud owner of a superyacht called Mia Zoi (One Life).

Peter's passion for adventure and excitement is matched by the desire he has to share his experiences with others, from family and friends, to the viewing audience.

In the second season of My Greek Odyssey, join Peter as he climbs back aboard his beautiful boat Mia Zoi, and heads to a region of Greece he's not spent much time in before.

The plan is to skip from island to island, taking in the sites of the Northern Aegean and Western Cycladic.

It's going to be a journey of discovery, where he'll be digging deeper into the fabric that makes Greece so unique, and immersing himself in a centuries-old culture that's unlike anywhere else on the planet.

Along the way you'll not only see amazing sites, you'll also meet remarkable characters.

Peter will introduce you to the local cuisine, give you a bit of a history lesson, and most importantly, inspire you, so you can make Greece your next holiday destination.
