The Carrie Diaries is an American teen drama television series developed by Amy B. Harris as a prequel to Sex and the City and based on the book of the same name by Candace Bushnell, which focuses on Carrie Bradshaw during her junior year of high school in 1984, as she explores life in New York while interning at a law office.

The series premiered in the USA on The CW on 14 January, 2013.

The Carrie Diaries premiered in South Africa on M-Net Series Showcase (simulcast in HD) on Wednesday 10 July 2013, at 19h30. It later aired on DStv's Vuzu channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 2 premiered on M-Net Series Showcase on Tuesday 3 December 2013, at 18h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 13 episodes in the second season.

Season 2

It's the summer of 1985, and, for the first time, 17-year-old Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) can call Manhattan home.

After her boyfriend Sebastian (Austin Butler) and best friend Maggie (Katie Findlay) betrayed her, Carrie is happy to accept the offer to spend the summer living in the downtown loft apartment of her Interview magazine boss Larissa (Freema Agyeman).

Carrie is determined to make the most of her summer in Manhattan and all the grit and glamour it has to offer.

She is living in the Tribeca loft with her friend Walt (Brendan Dooling), working full time at Interview magazine and hitting a different fabulous club each night. She even agrees to a night on the town with her classmate and rival Donna LaDonna (Chloe Bridges).

But when Donna shows up with Sebastian, Carrie decides to go out on her own and, by a series of surprising events, meets one of the greatest loves of her life - her lifelong friend Samantha Jones.

Back in Castlebury, Mouse (Ellen Wong) shuts out Maggie when she sees her working at the country club, and Dorrit (Stefania Owen) has her own problems to contend with when Tom (Matt Letscher) finds out about her boyfriend Miller (guest star Evan Crooks).

As summer turns to fall and Carrie heads into her senior year, she and her friends and family discover that letting go of old loves and embracing new dreams comes with some tough new realities but also incredible new opportunities.

Based on the novels The Carrie Diaries and Summer and the City by Candace Bushnell, The Carrie Diaries is from Fake Empire in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Amy B. Harris (Sex and the City, Gossip Girl), Josh Schwartz (Hart of Dixie, Gossip Girl), Stephanie Savage (Hart of Dixie, Gossip Girl), Len Goldstein (Hart of Dixie) and Candace Bushnell.
