Kenny Powers was poised to rule the Big Leagues, but two things got in the way: his fading fastball and his insufferable personality.
After a spectacular career flame-out, Kenny went home to Shelby County, North Carolina, to nurse his wounds, working as a gym teacher at his old middle school.
Then Fate brought him within inches of reclaiming his former glory – both on the field with the Tampa Bay Rays and in the sack with his high-school sweetheart April – but when the comeback eluded him, Kenny abandoned April at a convenience store and hit the open road to start a new life ... as a cockfighter in Mexico.
It was later revealed at the end of Season 2 that Kenny would be heading to Myrtle Beach to play in the minors for a second chance at playing American baseball and an attempt to get back into the Majors.
This year, after a great start to his season with the Myrtle Beach Mermen, Kenny returns home for his son's first birthday. April then comes to Myrtle Beach and after a night out with Kenny, she leaves him with more than just a hangover.
Ike Barinholtz joins the cast this season as Ivan, a Russian pitcher Kenny tries to take under his wing.
