About the Show

Expresso is a South African breakfast magazine television show produced by Tswelopele Productions and broadcast live from a penthouse apartment in Sea Point, Cape Town, which has panoramic views of Table Mountain and the ocean and features a myriad of informative and interactive segments.

This context allows the cameras and presenters to move fluidly from place to place, avoiding the typical studio format, ensuring energetic performances and optimum attention.

The presenters steer the show through a myriad of segments. As well as soft news and weather, the show includes kids' entertainment and green awareness, on-trend fashion and beauty advice, comedy, interviews with celebrities, live gigs from SA's top bands and the latest from the worlds of blogging, gaming and gadgets.

Doctors, opinionated journalists, chefs, sport fanatics, stylists and "techies" form the expert presenter pool. Their conversation allows a casual atmosphere and they are asked to err on the fun side.

The content caters to every age group and the bilingual aspect ensures that more people can watch the show.

Broadcast Notes

The length of episodes was originally 150 minutes in length - they were extended by half an hour to 180 minutes in Season 6, from Monday 4 July, 2016.

They were reduced again for Season 7 to 150 minutes, and the show moved from weekdays at 06h00 to weekdays at 06h30. During Season 8, the show moved back to 06h00.
