On Wednesday night (30 October) Jamie-Lee Domburg and Kuhle Adams won this year's Presenter Search on 3
and this morning (Friday, 1 November) they debuted in their new job.
They've made appearances on Expresso during the competition and yesterday after their win but today was their first official day as Expresso's new presenters i.e. their pay cheques start on 1 November.
They opened the show with Graeme Richards who was very gushy about them of course, squeezing Jamie-Lee until her head almost popped off, and then they hosted as hosts do.
They were mostly together, sometimes apart and didn't look as if they'd had a sleepless night last night.
This is obviously because of all the coffee they need to drink! The presenters clearly have to like coffee a lot
to host on the show because every five minutes everyone's getting coffee from that advertorial McCafé bar or huge cup.
I was shocked and very irritated to see that even the guests have to
drink the coffee - or at least pretend to!
Which brings me to Flash Fact No. 1
about Kuhle and Jamie-Lee: they're made of sterner stuff than me because I'd be a shaking, caffeinated mess by the end of the three hour show but they weren't.
Jamie-Lee was in the Top 10 of the Presenter Search from the start of the Top 10 and Kuhle was a Viewers' Choice contestant who received another shot at the win when viewers voted her back in.
Kuhle studied a Bachelor of Social Science degree at UCT and Jamie-Lee studied Speech and Drama at the Cape Academy of Performing Arts, also in Cape Town.
Kuhle was raised by a single mother in KwaMagxaki, Port Elizabeth and Jamie-Lee is a single mother to an eight month old: Luca.
. 2017 was a big year for Kuhle's presenting career: she was a presenter on Cape Town TV's youth talk show EkSe, she hosted the fourth season of SABC2's youth reality show Roughing It Out and she was a Top 3 finalist in the MTV Base VJ Search.
Jamie-Lee's entertainment credits aren't on TV but in the dance/schmodelling scene. She competed in the 2008 Hip-Hop World Championships in Germany and she's currently a plus size model. She describes herself as a Curve Model on her Twitter page.
. She's always been a Capetonian - she grew up in Steenburg - and Kuhle's relocated back to Cape Town after a stint in Joziburg.
According to Kuhle's official bio from the Presenter Search, she practised her presenting skills by imitating Ursula Chikane and Bonang when she was younger. She's 23.
. Jamie-Lee spent four years at sea, as a Master of Ceremonies on a Norwegian cruise ship. She also worked as a lifeguard at a hotel in Dubai for a year. She's 26.
Kuhle volunteered at a TB hospital when she lived in PE and in Jamie-Lee's official Presenter Search profile, she says she entered to do good.
