Bio

Jack McGee is an American actor best known for his starring role as Chief Jerry Riley, whose losing battle with his ailing wife’s Alzheimer’s left him reeling, both emotionally and financially, on the television drama series Rescue Me, from 2004-2007.

He currently stars as Captain Mike Sutton in the comedy-drama police procedural television series Common Law, since 2012.

A South Bronx native, McGee was a New York City firefighter for ten years before landing his first feature film role opposite Jodie Foster in Five Corners.

Since then, he has appeared in numerous feature films, including Backdraft, Basic Instinct, Miracle on 34th Street, Thirteen Days, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde, and the Academy Award winning Best Picture, Crash.

He also appeared in Lethal Weapon 2, Born on the Fourth of July, The Out-of-Towners, Coyote Ugly, Thirteen Days Which Shocked the World, and The Man Who Wasn’t There.

In addition to his critically acclaimed role on Rescue Me, McGee’s TV credits include series regular roles on Sunset Beat, Space Rangers, and Whatever, and telefilms such as Student Exchange, Houdini, The Darwin Conspiracy, and Little John.

As a guest star, his credits include recurring roles on NYPD Blue and The Huntress, as well as guest starring on Navy NCIS, Carnivale, ER, The Practice, Malcolm in the Middle, The X-Files, and Seinfeld.

He also appeared on The Wonder Years, Roseanne, Twin Peaks, Murphy Brown, SeaQuest DSV, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Chicago Hope, Baywatch, Providence, The Division, Touched by an Angel, CSI, Charmed, and Without a Trace, among many others.
