Heavy D (real name Dwight Errington Myers) was a Jamaican-born American rapper, record producer, singer, actor and former leader of Heavy D & the Boyz, a hip hop group that rose to prominence in the 1990s.

He died on 8 November, 2011 in Los Angeles, California, USA. The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism he suffered while on a long flight.
