Jay Anstey is a South African actress best known for her starring role as sexy, carefree and edgy rebel Charlie Holmes on the SABC3 soap opera Isidingo, from 2011 to 2013.
She has acted in a number of other television series as well including Snitch on M-Net, Rhythm City on e.tv and Young Leonardo for the BBC.
Jay has also acted in a number of feature films including Catch a Fire, Le Doux Mondes, Inescapable and Sleeper's Wake.
She graduated from Pretoria Technikon with a National Diploma in Dramatic Arts and lists her special skills as singing, playing the piano and ballroom dancing. She has appeared in commercials for numerous clients including Red Berry, Edgars, Supersport and UJ.
Jay has also acted in a number of music videos and is multilingual, speaking English, Afrikaans, Zulu, Tswana, South Sotho and Xhosa.
She is the daughter of actor Norman Anstey.
She was one of the celebrity cast members on the fifth season of the SABC1 reality competition Tropika Island of Treasure, in 2013.
She was also one of the celebrities to compete in the sixth season of the SABC3 reality competition Strictly Come Dancing, in 2013.
In November 2013 Isidingo recast her role as Charlie. Reports at the time claimed that the recasting happened without Jay's knowledge.
