Moeder
Channel: VIA (DStv 147)
TX Time: 18h00
Genre: Reality, Food, Afrikaans
This new Rian van Heerden series pays tribute to moms.
Some of the older generation, in particular, will remember that in many homes back in the day, there was a message that spelled out the words: "Wat is 'n huis sonder 'n moeder?" (What is a home without a mother?).
These were either embroidered with fine cross-stitch or displayed in one of those black glass frames with the blood-red roses and shiny foil behind them.
Nowadays, these messages are most likely found as forgotten mementos in charity shops.
But what remains and isn't forgotten are those wonderful dishes that only a mother can prepare for her child – where the love and care that go into them make them taste even better.
Moeder combines the two elements of food and family in a heartwarming way.
Each episode reveals the unique bond between mother and child.
The series is hosted by Rian van Heerden.
He takes the lead, giving successful South Africans the opportunity to thank their mothers for everything.
The series kicks off with Mr South Africa 2023, who is also a successful optometrist with a few hit songs under his belt: Tiaan Massyn.
This multi-talented man is also mad about cars, and this is exactly how he chose his wife, Zelné Minnaar, who is herself a petrolhead.
Find out what he and his mother, Sonia van der Watt, are going to whip up together in the kitchen and discover the special guest for this wonderful occasion.
