Normal People

An adaptation of Sally Rooney's novel of the same name, Normal People tracks the tender but complicated relationship of Marianne and Connell from the end of their school days in a small town in the west of Ireland, to their undergraduate years at Trinity College.

Marianne is lonely, proud and intimidating whilst Connell is well-liked and popular.

A strange connection grows between the two teenagers - one they are determined to conceal.

In a school in a small-town west of Ireland, Connell is a well-liked, good looking and athletic football player.

Marianne is a proud, intimidating and unpopular loner who actively avoids her classmates and challenges teachers' authority.

Sparks fly between the two when Connell comes to pick up his mother Lorraine from her job at Marianne's house, and a strange and indelible connection grows between the two teenagers - one they are determined to conceal from their peers.

A compulsive modern love story, Normal People sees the pair weave in and out of each other's lives, and explores just how complicated intimacy and young love can be.

In the series premiere: An attraction sparks between Connell and Marianne when he comes to collect his mother, who works for Marianne's family.

A deep connection begins, but the teenagers are determined to conceal it from their peers.

Trainwreck: Balloon Boy

Channel: Netflix South Africa
TX Time: 10h00
Genre: Documentary

Trainwreck: Balloon Boy

A homemade flying saucer lifts off, and a 6-year-old boy might be inside. National panic ensues - but what truly happened?

This documentary investigates.

On 15 October, 2009, a father in Fort Collins Colorado calls 911, claiming that his home-made flying saucer has escaped from the back yard, carrying his six-year-old son inside.

This stranger-than-fiction claim is backed up by footage from a news helicopter, which catches up with the balloon and is live-streaming the chase.

What starts as a local emergency quickly escalates into a national one, as everyone from the National Guard, to the sheriff and Homeland Security, struggles to come up with a plan to safely rescue "Balloon Boy".

As the balloon softly lands, people pray for a miracle reunion - but instead they discover no boy inside.

What appears to be a tragedy takes a sharp turn into something else.

Public sympathy quickly turns into righteous outrage, as Balloon Boy quickly becomes one of America's most infamous, and bizarre news stories.

Race to Survive 2: New Zealand

Channel: M-Net (DStv 101)
TX Time: 15h00
Genre: Reality Competition, Adventure

Race to Survive 2: New Zealand

In the most harrowing outdoor adventure competition yet, challengers must rely on a combination of endurance racing, survival skills and intuition as they navigate 150 miles of New Zealand's harshest terrain.

From the depths of ancient caves to frigid alpine summits, every step and every calorie is hard-earned.

However, strength and speed alone won't be enough to win $500,000.

Rather, only those with the strongest will to survive can claim this life-changing prize.

Nine teams of two will navigate the deceptively beautiful New Zealand landscape, tasked not only with sourcing their own food and water, but beating their counterparts in a race to the finish as well.

The duos must brave the foreign land and elements while realising the fastest route might not always be the safest.

In each leg of the race, the last team to reach the finish line will be eliminated from the competition.

If the teams can endure physical pain, an unforgiving environment and each other, for long enough, they just might be able to claim the $500,000 grand prize.

The nine teams participating include mountain climbers, smoke jumpers, river guides and recent divorcees among others.
