kykNET switches the rugby field for a pool from Monday 3 October when Diepe Waters premieres at 18h00, replacing Getroud met Rugby which wraps the Friday before.

As we told you here, Diepe Waters is set at a swimming club called Die Swartmarlyne and centres round the Swarts family who own it.

We've introduced you to the characters but the cast has been hush-hush - until now.

According to the show's commissioning editor Lucia Meyer-Marais, many of the actors needed to prove they can swim in the audition process, meaning: we will actually see the characters swim.

Three of the headline cast members are Getroud met Rugby stars: Altus Theart, Werner Coetzer and Stephanie Baartman, who've been with GMR for all seven seasons.

Neels van Jaarsveld and Johnny Potsanyane are also GMR alumni. Neels played the recurring role of Steyn in Season 3 and Johnny played TJ in the first four seasons.

Here's a close-up of who's playing who in the Diepe Waters pool:

Gys Swarts
Played by Justin Strydom

The head honcho of Die Swartmarlyne. He lives beyond his means and aspires to owning an international academy.

He's Dad le Clos. He puts huge amounts of pressure on his grandson Johan because he wants him to be a champion swimmer.

Gys' ambition and drive cause him to hurt those close to him.

Zelda Joubert
Played by Sandi Schultz

The scheming owner of the beauty salon Skinvestment, who cannot stand Gys. She's an excellent businesswoman and a wily manipulator.

She believes in keeping her enemies as close as possible.

Meghan Swarts
Played by Lea Vivier

Gys' beautiful young wife, who gets easily manipulated by Zelda.

Rossouw Swarts
Played by Altus Theart

Gys’ eldest son, married to Sanet. They seem happy on the surface, but that's not the case behind closed doors. Their marriage isn't passionate.

Rossouw is emotionally disconnected and only sees things in black or white. He's Die Swart Marlyn's bookkeeper and very protective of his children Johan and Karla.

Sanet Swarts
Played by Nadia Valvekens

Roussouw's wife, who loves money. Status and prestige are most important to her. She puts huge pressure on her daughter Karla in the same way Gys does with Johan. She's Mom le Clos.

Sanet believes she's Rossouw's second choice because he was in love with someone else before her.

Jacques Swarts
Played by Werner Coetser

Gys’ younger son.

His smouldering body next to the pool makes everyone's hearts beat faster. He's charming and funny. His father isn't as impressed with him as everyone else though, because he believes he's an underachiever.

Johan Swarts
Played by Liam Bosman

Rossouw and Sanet's son who tries his best to impress his grandfather Gys. He's very competitive and doesn't enjoy coming second.

His biggest competitor is Tshepo.

Karla Swarts
Played by Danielle Swanepoel

Rossouw and Sanet's daughter, who has a very close bond with Gys - she's the apple of his eye. She tries her best to impress others and loses sight of who she is in the process.

Lydia Botha
Played by Rika Sennet

Sanet's mother who lives with her and Rossouw. Lydia is crazy about her grandchildren Karla and Johan.

Henry Jacobus Puddu
Stiaan Bruwer

Funny and empathetic, Henry describes himself as a pavement special because he's of Italian/Afrikaans and English decent.

He's taken care of Tshepo since Tshepo was eight years old and lost his parents.

Tshepo Buti
Played by Johnny Potsanyane

A star athlete with natural talent. He lost both of his parents at an early age and Henry has looked after him ever since. He dreams of swimming at the Olympics so he can buy a house for Henry and himself.

Pam Joubert
Played by Tracey Lee Oliver

Pam is constantly in search of something new e.g. doing yoga in India or growing bonsai trees. She's afraid of being alone and doesn't know who she truly is.

Arno van der Westhuizen
Played by Jean Henry

Arno is from Brandfort in the Free State. He's kind, mild mannered and well liked. His biggest downfall is that he's naive.

He's unaware of how many women (and men!) are attracted to him.

Nina de Wet
Played by Reze-Tiana Wessels

A shy, clever introvert with big swimming talent. Her and Karla became instant friends when they first met. She loves being alone, with her nose in a book. Her mother Rose is mostly too busy to give her proper attention.

Rose de Wet
Played by Eloise Cupido

Rose is very focused on her career. She grew up poor and worked hard to get where she is. Her parents used every cent they had to send her to university. She has a passion for helping people.

Wim de Wet
Played by Neels van Jaarsveld

Rose's husband who wants to be a good father to Nina. He met Rose at university 23 years ago when he was studying engineering. Rose believes Wim spoils Nina with too much attention.

Anja
Played by Reandi Grey

Anja left the country 20 years ago. Now she's back in South Africa and has a lot on her mind. She's a former member of Die Swartmarlyne and her coach Gys had big dreams of her becoming an Olympic champion.

Auntie Bybie Bekker
Played by Lizz Meiring

Tannie Bybie carries a big secret with her. She misses nothing. She's Meghan's adoptive mother and looked after her from when Meghan was five.

Lettie Adonis
Played by Stephanie Baartman

Lettie owns the famous coffee shop, Lettie’s Keffie, where everyone pops in when they need a shoulder to cry on. She's mad about baking and loves being of service to people.

New episodes will air Mondays to Thursdays.
