Deep State

Deep State is an espionage thriller that will have you questioning every scenario, every action and every motive. Who's really in control? Who is pulling the strings? What is the truth, and what must be done to uncover it?

The story centres around Max Easton (Mark Strong), an ex-spy whose past comes back to haunt him as he returns to the field to avenge the death of his son Harry (Joe Dempsie).

Max soon discovers there is much more at stake, as he finds himself at the heart of a covert intelligence war and immersed in a widespread conspiracy to profit from the spread of chaos in the Middle East.

Max enters into a very dangerous game, as powerful corporations show that they are willing to do anything to preserve their reputation and bury their secrets.

Set in Britain, the U.S., Iran, Lebanon and France; Deep State shows the merciless reality of the world of espionage, in which an increasingly rare conscience can get you, and the ones you love, killed.

When a covert MI6/CIA team called The Section is tasked with assassinating Iranian nuclear scientists in Tehran, one member of the team, Harry Clarke, identifies a double agent in their midst and the cell is left exposed, deep in hostile territory.

The team requests immediate evacuation but are told they must remain and finish one final job. Chaos ensues and Harry is led to his death as the rest of the team flee to Beirut.

George White's instructions are to clean up. He calls in ex-agent Max Easton to locate and eliminate the Tehran team and its leader, Alexander Said, who executed Harry.

Max, who has lived in the Pyrenees with his second family for the past 10 years, is reluctant to re-engage, but this mission is personal. Harry was Max's son.

To ensure that Max takes the mission, The Section puts special measures in place, which alert Max's wife Anna Easton to a web of deceit involving her husband.

While Max hunts down the rogue operatives in Beirut, Anna begins her own investigation into her husband's past that puts herself and her two young daughters in grave danger.

As Max gets close to rogue operatives Leyla Toumi and Ryan Cooper he learns that not everything is quite as it seems.
