Season 2

Vallei van Sluiers' first season finished on a suspenseful note with the nightmare scene at the pit, where Hugo and Beulah floated in the water.

Three shots were discharged from Hannah, JP and Bertito's firearms. All three had more than enough reason to get Hugo out of the way. Hugo was hit and lost consciousness due to his bleeding, as Con desperately sought help at the hospital.

But no one wanted to help...

The second season begins seven months after the shooting incident at the pit. Many questions are answered by flashbacks.

But when the season starts it is winter in the Ceres Valley, with snow that creates a fairytale landscape low on the slopes of the mountains.

In the meantime, many changes have taken place in the lives of the people of the Valley. Most importantly, Hannah's decision to re-establish veterinary practice. She advertises for a veterinarian and eventually gets a response from someone who arrives for an interview.

De Wet Enslin, however, is a strange man and not easy to measure.

For most of the other characters, winter also brings change: Oom Boykie's health is a source of concern and also a great annoyance to Ta'Effie; Beulah learns to speak again with the help of Bertito; Markus goes through a bitter winter of disillusionment; Charmaine is frustrated and waiting for JP to come back from Angola; Chloe and Luke are happy and arguing all day about who loves the other the most; and then there's Jacques and Monique...

In the role of the new veterinarian De Wet Enslin is Morne Visser, who joins returning cast including Andre Rossouw, Lida Botha, Michele Burgers, Albert Maritz, Yvonne van den Bergh and Crystal-Donna Roberts.

In the only change to the cast for Season 2, Nic de Jager takes over from At Botha in the role of Con de Bruyn.

Vallei van Sluiers is an M-Net Original Production produced by Quantum Produksies for kykNET. The second season was written by Johan van Jaarsveld and Louis Pretorius and directed by Elizabeth Archer.

The producers for Season 2 were Johan van Jaarsveld and Dini Nondumo and the supervising producer for kykNET was Marida Swanepoel. Music was by Craig Ormond.
