The Herd is a South African supernatural drama series which follows Bheki, a man who needed help many years ago and made a deal with a witchdoctor that came at a great cost to his present.
The series explores the extent to which people will go to obtain their heart's desires, with the premise that love, power and the pursuit of material wealth and can drive a man to sacrifice his soul.
The new season picks up approximately seven months later and MaMngadi (Winnie Ntshaba) doesn't want to be a witch anymore. Will she continue her redemptive journey, or will she fall back to witchcraft?
Joining the cast for 13 new episodes are Bheki Sibiya, Nunu Khumalo, Mbali Maphumulo and Nomsa Nene. Previously recurring in Season 1, Ayanda Sibisi and Siyasanga Papu were promoted to starring cast this season.
Bheki Sibiya plays Smangaliso. Deeply traditional and charming, Smangaliso is the older brother of Bhekisizwe Mthethwa. He has been in and out of jail for most his life and now has the chance to score his biggest heist yet – taking over his dead brother's family and life.
Nomsa Nene plays MaMthembu, MaMngadi's mother who's also a witch. She is the reason MaMngadi is so powerful. However, MaMthembu has never showed MaMngadi motherly care and affection and is all about getting down to the business at hand.
Mbali Maphumulo stars as Ayanda and Nqobile Khumalo as Dudu.
