Bio

Sihle Ndaba is a South African actress, singer and voice artist best known for her role as Smangele Maphumulo in the SABC1 soapie Uzalo.

She is not to be confused with Gomora actress Siphesihle Ndaba.

Hailing from Ermelo in the Mpumalanga province, Sihle studied for a National Diploma in Musical Theatre from the Tshwane University of Technology, from 2007-2009.

She has appeared in a number of theatre productions including Kwela Bafana at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg, Freckle Face Strawberry and King Kong at The Fugard Theatre in Cape Town. She was also the assistant director of a production of Under the Baobab, which had a run at the National Children's Theatre in 2014.

Sihle has also worked for a number of corporate clients including television commercials for Ford and Joko Tea; and voiceovers for M-Net, Ponds, Vodacom, Telkom and SA Home Loans, among others.

She was an ensemble player (and understudy for the role of Nala) in the stage musical The Lion King, touring to Singapore in 2011. Upon returning to South Africa she entered the M-Net reality competition series Idols for its eighth season, in 2012. She reached the Top 18 before being eliminated.

Later that year she played the guest role of Pru in the Mzansi Magic telenovela iNkaba and in early 2013 had a guest role in Episode 9 of the SABC1 supernatural drama series Room 9, which aired on 17 January, 2013.

Sihle was a member of the original cast of the SABC1 soapie Uzalo, which debuted on 9 February, 2015. The show created history by being the first show to beat Generations in the TAMS ratings for over a decade, in June 2015.

Originally recurring on Uzalo, she was promoted to series regular in Season 3. Her character was written out at the start of Season 4 (along with Leleti Khumalo, who played MaNzuza), although the pair were still credited as starring for the first few episodes of the season. Her last appearance was at her character's funeral, which aired on 16 February, 2018.

Sihle was the featured guest on an episode of the SABC1 talk show Zaziwa, which aired on 31 January, 2018 (Season 5, Episode 28).

In 2018 she had a starring role as Bheki's (Sello Maake Ka-Ncube) golden child, Kayise, in the Mzansi Magic supernatural drama series The Herd, which premiered on Sunday 8 July.
