Set in "the Bermuda Triangle of Tourism", a small town called Trinity, South Carolina, American Gothic is a dark horror with elements of the supernatural throughout.
Originally broadcast by CBS and running from 1995 - 1996, American Gothic is a multi-layered, complex observation of a town gone seriously bad, and the conflict between good and evil.
The plot centres around two key characters: Sheriff Lucas Buck and a young boy who turns out to be his son, Caleb Temple.
All the characters in the town strive to prove their worth to Caleb in some way, while Lucas Buck (the devil himself) whispers the benefits of evil in his own son's ear.
Caleb's cousin Gail Emory arrives in Trinity to protect Caleb but ends up falling in love with Lucas Buck.
The only person left protecting Caleb from the forces of evil is the ghost of his murdered sister Merlyn, a white-shrouded soul whom the townsfolk believe was murdered by the last man who saw her alive - her father, Lucas Buck......
