Season 4

Eureka is an American science fiction television series (filmed in British Columbia, Canada) created by Andrew Cosby and Jaime Paglia which takes place in a high-tech community, located somewhere in the Pacific Northwest and inhabited entirely by brilliant scientists working on new scientific advancements that frequently go awry.

The series aired in the USA on the Sci-Fi Channel (which later became Syfy) from 18 July, 2006 to 16 July, 2012. There are 77 hour-long episodes (and eight webisodes) in five seasons.

Eureka premiered in South Africa on actionX (which later became M-Net Action) on Thursday 28 June 2007, at 20h00. It was moved to DStv's M-Net Series channel midway through the fourth season and also aired on SABC2. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 4 premiered on M-Net Action on Wednesday 20 October 2010, at 18h00. The show went on hiatus after the ninth episode (which aired on 15 December 2010) to accommodate a similar hiatus in the USA.

Season 4 resumed with Episode 10 on M-Net Series on Monday 15 August 2011, at 21h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 20 episodes in the fourth season in total.

Synopsis

Nestled in the Pacific Northwest, Eureka is a seemingly ordinary place whose residents lead ordinary lives - at least to the naked eye.

Shrouded in secrecy, the picturesque town is actually a community of scientific geniuses secretly relocated by the government to conduct top-secret research.

For years, the government has been relocating the world's geniuses (and their families) to the picturesque Pacific Northwest town of Eureka, where daily life straddles the line between unprecedented innovation and total chaos.

U.S. Marshal Jack Carter finds this out firsthand when he wrecks his car and becomes stranded there.

After the town's eccentric inhabitants unleash a scientific creation still unknown to the outside world, Carter steps in to restore order and consequently is let in on one of the country's best-kept secrets.

From unrequited love to professional jealousy, from addiction to depression, the problems of Eureka's townsfolk grow from the myriad of life's everyday challenges.

But with the population's unique talents, troubled psyches and limitless resources, these small-town concerns have a way of becoming big-time problems.

It is at that intersection, where human frailty and super-science collide, that Eureka begins.
