Season 2

The Street is a British television drama series created by Jimmy McGovern and produced by Granada Television for the BBC which follows the lives of various residents of an unnamed street in Manchester, with each episode concentrating on a different house in the street.

The series aired in the UK on BBC One from 13 April, 2006 to 17 August, 2009. There are 18 hour-long episodes in three seasons.

The Street premiered in South Africa on DStv's BBC Entertainment channel on Tuesday 17 August 2010, at 20h30. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 2 aired on BBC Entertainment from 12 October to 16 November, 2010, on Tuesdays at 20h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are six episodes in the second season.

Season 2

Season 2 of The Street sees the return of the acclaimed drama from Jimmy McGovern in which six stories are told from the point of view of neighbours all living on the same street in Manchester.

Each episode stands alone as we get to know the street's residents one by one. The Street takes us behind closed doors to reveal a community brimming with deceit, anger, frustration, friendship, love and redemption.

Each of the six compelling stories boasts some of Britain's finest film, television and stage actors including Timothy Spall, Mark Benton, David Thewlis and Gina McKee, who take us on a series of bittersweet journeys of everyday pain, suffering and hope.

The season starts with Joe Jennerson, who envies his identical twin brother Harry, who has a comfortable bachelor lifestyle funded by a generous army pension.

Unlike Harry, Joe is in a dead-end job, with no money and a wife who he thinks has fallen out of love with him. Will Joe's fortunes improve when the two watch a football match together?

The Street explores the day-to-day encounters of society and exposes and exaggerates what would normally be issues that most of us would simply sweep under the carpet.

The series presents masterful storytelling, authentic emotions and characters that we can all relate to at some point in our lives.
