And the headliners of Mzansi Wethu's new 18h30 novela Homecoming are:

Mpume “Six” Nyamane in her second starring TV role.

She's been a lead on Generations: The Legacy as Nozipho Cele-Moroka and now we know why she's just left and isn't on the new season!

Her résumé includes roles on Scandal!, Rhythm City and the Ferguson Magic drama series Unmarried.

And Thembinkosi Mthembu in his seventh starring role.

The Republic, The River,  Adulting, Champions, Outlaws and Shaka iLembe.

Homecoming is his sixth starring role for Tshedza Pictures who have to save Mzansi Wethu's 18h30 timeslot once popular Sibongile & The Dlaminis ends on Wednesday 23 July, while Duma Ndlovu wars with SARS.

Homecoming premieres the Monday after and this is the scenario:

Six plays Zethu Hlongwane, a straight-A medical graduate hoping to become one of the country’s few Black female surgeons.

But when things don’t turn out how she had hoped, with no job or placement, she is forced to return to the village she left behind, in the rural town of Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal.

There, Zethu finds herself at the crossroads of two worlds, that of western medicine and traditional healing when she meets Thembinkosi's character Sifiso Kubheka.

Sifiso is a police officer by day and a traditional healer by night, challenging everything she thought she knew about love, healing and home.

What's it really about?

According to producer Lulu Hela: “Homecoming is a deeply meaningful project for us. The title reflects a return to the places, people, and practices that shaped us.

"At the heart of this story is a powerful conversation between traditional and western medicine, two worlds often seen in opposition.”

Other cast includes:

Sipho Manzini (The Queen, Skeem Saam, Icala),

Khombi Phetla (The River),

Mpilo Mbatha (The River, Empini),

Khayalethu Xaba (Smoke & Mirrors, Lavish) and,

Amahle Khumalo (Empini, Generations, Is'phindiselo)
