About the Show

The Fixer (also known as Scandal) is an American political thriller television series created by Shonda Rhimes partially based on former George Bush administration press aide Judy Smith about Olivia Pope, a professional "fixer" who makes problems go away before anyone even knows they exist.

Known elsewhere as Scandal, the show was retitled The Fixer for South African audiences due to a conflict with the title of the e.tv soapie Scandal!.

Everyone has a secret... and Olivia Pope has dedicated her life to protecting and defending the public images of the nation's elite and keeping those secrets under wraps.

Revered and feared at the same time, Olivia, a former communications director to the President of the United States, left the White House to open her own prominent crisis management firm.

She is hoping to start a new chapter in her life — both professionally and personally — but she can't seem to completely cut ties with her past.

Slowly it becomes apparent that her dysfunctional staff, who specialize in fixing other people's lives, can't quite fix the ones closest at hand-their own.

Olivia's accomplished staff, who would follow her anywhere and do whatever it takes to save someone's reputation, include Harrison Wright, a slick litigator; Huck, hacker extraordinaire; investigator Abby Whelan (don't let that smile and red hair fool you, she's as sharp as they come); and Quinn Perkins, the new young woman in the office who is in awe of Olivia, but is initiated in a trial by fire on her very first day on the job.

As Olivia Pope and Associates fights for the reputations and sometimes lives of their clients, Olivia's former boss, President Fitzgerald Grant, the First Lady Millicent Grant, the President's Chief of Staff, Cyrus Beene, and the Assistant State Attorney David Rosen are never far from her beat.

Her clients aren't the only ones with secrets, though; surprisingly, she may need to exercise all her damage control skills on her own behalf.

The Fixer stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, Columbus Short as Harrison Wright, Guillermo Diaz as Huck, Darby Stanchfield as Abby Whelan, Katie Lowes as Quinn Perkins, Tony Goldwyn as President Fitzgerald Grant, Jeff Perry as Cyrus, Bellamy Young as First Lady Mellie Grant and Joshua Malina as David Rosen.

The series was created by Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice). Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers (Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice) and Mark Wilding (Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice) are executive producers. The Fixer is produced by ABC Studios.
