Bio

Dozi is a South African musician who first became popularly known through the television show Noot Vir Noot (Note For Note).

He's subsequently hosted and performed in a show of his own entitled Kom 'n Bietjie Binne (Come In For A Bit) and is also known for being a celebrity coach on the second and third seasons of the reality talent show Supersterre.

Since the age of 12 Dozi has been performing on stage, singing and playing guitar. In 1999, he recorded and released his first album, a Zulu gospel album entitled Mercy, which received a SAMA nomination for best newcomer.

This album was written and composed by Dozi. Later, Op Aanvraag was released, selling more than 100 000 copies. With these successful albums behind him, Dozi and his band were welcomed during a tour to the USA in June 2005.

In July 2005 he was appointed a 46664 ambassador by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, dedicated to research on HIV/ AIDS and the support of victims of the disease, in July 2005.

He also performed as a guest artist on a number of albums during the same year, including those by South African musicians Anton Goosen, Bianca, Irene van Wyk and a tribute album to the late Gé Korsten.

During November 2005, he was awarded the Vonk Music Award in the Song of the Year category for Grassade In Die Wind as well as Best Solo Artist for his Kruispad album.

In 2016 he collaborated with DJ Shimza, a house DJ, on the Season 5 premiere of the musical reality show Jam Sandwich, after the show moved from SABC2 to SABC3.
