When Mzansi Magic told us that Showmax series
Empini would replace Gqeberha: The Empire in January we were concerned.
First it was Outlaws, then Empini - does it mean that Mzansi Magic's going to be another Showmax sloppy seconds channel as happened with
1Not-So-Magic before it shutdown for 1Max?
Today we wipe our brows in relief because they've announced the titles and scenarios of three new Mzansi Magic originals for 2025.
They are:
A spin-off of The River titled
Cobrizi. It centres round Thuso "Cobra" Mokoena who was a lead character played by Presley Chweneyagae on all six seasons of the show.
It follows Cobra's pursuit for redemption.
Premieres in March and looks likely to replace Umkhokha: The Curse in the 20h30 timeslot after it ends on 28 February.
Bloodlines.
A story about twin brothers torn apart by betrayal and corruption.
It also premieres in March.
Genesis, which follows a battle for control of a gospel music empire in crisis. It starts in April so will most likely replace My Brother's Keeper which ends on the 18th.
