Miss South Africa 2024

The 2024 Miss South Africa pageant will be held at the SunBet Arena at Time Square, Pretoria.

The ceremony starts at 18h00, preceded by the red carpet at 17h30.

Like last year, the pageant is hosted by Bonang Matheba.

The judges this year are:

Leandie du Randt (actress)
Rolene Strauss (Miss South Africa and Miss World 2014)
Lerato Kganyago (actress and DJ)
Jo-Ann Strauss (Miss South Africa 2000)
Thembi Seete (actress and musician)

Performers include Jesse Clegg, Kamo Mphela, Lebo Mashile, Zoë Modiga and sign language activist Andiswa Gebashe.

The Miss South Africa Top 30 took part in a reality show called Crown Chasers, which broadcast over several weeks before the main pageant.

Twenty of the Top 30 were eliminated in this phase, leaving 10 to compete in the main pageant finale.

One contestant, Chidimma Adetshina, withdrew from the pageant two days before it aired, over allegations that she was not a South African citizen.

Supersized Sharks

Norfolk Island, 800 miles off the coast of Australia, is home to some of the largest tiger sharks in the world.

As strange as it sounds, some think this small island in the middle of the South Pacific has become like a drive-thru burger joint for tiger sharks to gorge on meat.

For the first time, scientists are diving in to answer why there are so many huge tigers there.

Shark biologists Lauren Meyers, Charlie Huveneers and Adam Barnett lure the giants to their boat to investigate and make a surprising discovery.
