Season 1 winner Robert Kruger in a man-baby moment after his win.
Loud flare alert!
kykNET's local edition of the international reality format Die Brug has the green light for Season 2 and the search is on for contestants who want to compete for the R1-million prize money, or whatever remains of it at the end of the show.
Season 1 was won by former professional rugby player Robert Kruger who won R800,000. The prize money ended up at R850,000 and he gave R50,000 to fellow contestant and runner-up William Walters - which you might or might not decide to do if you win Season 2.
In case you aren't familiar with the concept, this is it: A group of strangers are left in a remote wilderness and must construct a bridge from the shore to an island that has the R1-million prize. They need to do this in under 20 days.
The challenge is that the game isn’t just about building a structure - it’s also about testing the players’ social skills, morals, physical and mental strength and endurance.
How will they bridge the divides in their own lives and navigate their own biases to work together to succeed?
Who will be the first to negotiate their way across the bridge to the prize - and will they stick to the promises that helped them get there?
Whoever reaches the cash can decide on whether or not they want to share it with any of their fellow contestants.
Season 2
We've already seen one crowd of contestants successfully completing the bridge in Season 1 so couldn't you just copy what they did in Season 2?
According to kykNET, the new season has new challenges and twists, meaning the first season can give you ideas but the new season won't be a carbon copy.
From the sounds of it the location might be different too because they say:
"The players must work together to cross turbulent waters - often of their own making - and negotiate unexpected new twists and temptations, with plenty of surprises along the way."
The season's being produced by Red Pepper Films once again and will air in early 2025.
