The Masked Singer SA

Comedian and TV personality Mpho Popps is the host of the local version of the show based on the South Korean series Masked Singer.

Mpho will be joined by a panel of celebrity detectives consisting of J. Something of MiCasa fame, serial reality slut Somizi Mhlongo, socialite and DJ Sithelo Shozi and comedian Skhumba Hlophe.

In every episode celebrated, personalities and entertainment superstars sing well-known songs while bejewelled in full-body costumes and masks to hide their identities.

The flamboyant masks and costumes have personalities of their own and invite as much commentary as the performances themselves do.

A celebrity panel of detectives must guess who is behind the mask.

The studio audience is a rich component of the show, voting together with the celebrity detectives for their favourite performance.

At the end of the show, the least popular performers are eliminated, but not before the mask is removed to reveal their identity.

Who is really behind the mask? Is it possible to reframe how others see us or maybe play a little with solid identities?

Some rugby players may turn out to be the best singers – who knows?

Alex vs. America 3

Chef and Food Network staple Alex Guarnaschelli competes against three culinary superstars at the same time over two rounds.

The competitors hail from across the United States but share the same mastery of a culinary genre, one that they have spent endless hours in their own kitchens perfecting and which will be tested in an effort to take down Alex.

At the start of each battle, host Eric Adjepong presents Alex and the competitors with the culinary theme for their dishes.

In the first round, the competitors can work together to select ingredients and even decide how much time goes on the clock.

Each dish undergoes a blind tasting from two judges well-versed in the episodic theme, with only the top three chefs advancing to the next round and the least successful challenger sent home - even if it is Alex.

The chef who wins the first round earns the right to select all the variables for the second culinary challenge, with the remaining chefs' final plates determining who comes out on top, winning bragging rights and a cash prize.

In the Season 3 premiere, "Alex vs James Beard Winners": Eric welcomes three powerhouse James Beard-winning chefs from Illinois, Georgia and California to the arena.

These chefs know Alex personally, and they're ready to show off how they won one the most prestigious culinary awards in America.

Judges Stephanie Izard and Kwame Onwauchi determine which chef can dominate the competition in an emotional two rounds of impressive cooking.
