Filmmaking competish offers R50,000 documentary budget as first prize

Trace Urban music channel and the Gauteng Film Commission are running a cool competition for Gauteng-based filmmakers.

The prize: R50,000 to fund a documentary.

The starting point: You create a 30-second video on why you love Gauteng.

THIS is what you need to know if you want to enter....

THE SET-UP AND WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

The competition is structured like so:

Phase 1:
 
3 to 23 August 2020 - applications are open

Candidates create a short 30-second video.
THEME: on why you love Gauteng.
Upload your 30-second video onto www.trace.tv.

23 August 2020       

Entries close.
Top FIVE candidates contacted.
 
27 August 2020

FIVE candidates will be shortlisted and given a R5000 stipend to create a 90-second video about iconic Gauteng music and lifestyle locations. 
 
31 August 2020

The 90-seconder will be used to raise awareness around the change and status of the entertainment industry in Gauteng.
These FIVE videos will be aired on Trace channels.
 
Phase 2:
 
14 September 2020

Candidates submit final videos.
 
15 September 2020

Final Approval and Feedback.
 
21 September 2020

Top FIVE videos screened on Trace.
 
23 September 2020

Audience Voting Commences.
 
10 October 2020

Public Vote Ends.

14 October 2020
       
Winner Announced.
Winner’s video flighted on all Trace platforms.

Must-knows

Applications close on 23 August 2020 at 11.59.59 pm

Candidates must be documented South African citizens over the age of 18.
