A heads-up that the 2019 Miss Universe pageant airs on Vuzu on Sunday (15 December) for those who missed Zoz!'s win on 1Magic.

It starts at 20h00 and ends at 23h00.

Also, if you missed our memo last week, a delayed broadcast of Miss World airs on SABC3 on Saturday (14th) from 17h00 to 20h00, starring our new Miss South Africa Sasha-Lee Olivier.

That time I upgraded from compact to Compact Plus to watch our Zozi do her thang.

Why is SABC broadcasting Miss World on a delayed basis, shucks, sucks man.

Because they're in their not-so-SuperSport 3 mode for the Mzansi Super League.

@qavile, they're essentially the same thing with these differences:

1. Miss World was started in Britain and Miss Universe in America.

2. Miss World was created by a TV personality Eric Morley and his wife has co-chaired it since his death in 2000.

3. Miss Universe was created by the Miss Universe Organisation, which has gone through various ownerships, including Trump.

We've been doing some reading and it turns out he sold the pageant in 2015 to a talent and media agency called Endeavor. He used to co-own Miss Universe with NBC but they pulled out after his controversial statements about immigrants.

He bought NBC out and then sold the whole shebang to Endeavour. This is why the pageant now airs on FOX in America instead of NBC.

Overall Miss Universe has a bigger TV footprint than Miss World because of the big stakeholders involved in televising it.

Also, Miss World became unfashionable in Britain when feminist protesters protested against it, so British TV broadcasters don't promote it in the same way as the American ones with Miss Universe.

Another interesting difference between the two is that Miss World doesn't have a swimsuit round anymore after Eric's wife Julia removed it, saying: “I don’t care if someone has a bottom two inches bigger than someone else's. We are really not looking at her bottom. We are really listening to her speak."
