Season 1 stars Patricia Arquette, Joey King, Chloë Sevigny, AnnaSophia Robb and Calum Worthy.

In the series premiere, "La Maison du Bon Reve": Doting mother Dee Dee Blanchard and her sweet daughter Gypsy arrive in a new neighbourhood, where Gypsy feels lonely due to a barrage of medical issues and eager to make friends.

But their new neighbours can be nosy, and Dee Dee and Gypsy have secrets to hide.

I highly, highly, recommend The Act - it's BRILLIANT.

I've always been intrigued by Munchausen's syndrome - it's what Patricia Arquette's character Dee Dee has but it's "Munchausen syndrome by proxy", so she puts it onto her daughter Gypsy.

She forces Gypsy to have illnesses that she doesn't have. She makes her believe she has cancer when she doesn't, forces her to live her life in a wheel chair and feeds her through a tube instead of food.

It's mindbendingly CRAZY and so extreme - you just can't believe it's a true story. It's so well told too, because you really understand what Gypsy went through and what drove her to do what she does.

Don't miss it!
